Skin in Top Of The Pops Italia - Saturday 28th January

For all you Italian fans, Skin will be appearing on TOTP on Saturday the 28th of January. MANDU, a member of Skin's team, posted on the official site that she will be appearing in the final 15 minutes of the show, which is broadcast between 13:30 and 15:00 (Italy time) on Italia1.

The Top Of The Pops Italia website says:

E ancora la carismatica Skin, ex leader degli Skunk Anansie, che ritrova un look aggressivo per presentare il singolo "Alone in my room", pezzo di energia pura tratto dall'album "Fake chemical state".

Which means that Skin will be there to introduce her new single, 'Alone in my Room' a piece of pure energy from the album 'Fake Chemical State'. However, Skin will be performing "Just Let The Sun". (Please correct me if my Italian translation is wrong!!)

Fake Chemical State Bonus Track - Japan

Japanese releases are renowned for their bonus tracks, and Fake Chemical State is no exception. HMV.co.jp lists the Japanese Release of Fake Chemical State as having a bonus track. There is no name for this track, yet. Perhaps it's going to be Only Vultures, which will be a B-Side to Just Let The Sun. Fleshwounds, in Japan, was released with a bonus track. 'On and On' was featured on the Trashed CD single, too.

*Note: This may appear in Japanese. If so, visit www.hmv.co.jp, scroll to the bottom, select "English", then search for "Fake Chemical State". The first result will be the Japanese Release.

Since there's only been small versions of the cover available, here is a larger, more detailed version of the cover to Fake Chemical State. Clicking the image will show a slightly larger version (50px bigger).

The suspected cover for Just Let The Sun can now be confirmed. V2's website now lists Just Let The Sun and includes the cover to the right (although with slightly less of a bleeched corner). There are no more details as of yet, though.

Link to V2

More recent release schedules have Just Let The Sun listed as being released on the 6th of March, 2006. HMV.co.uk also lists it as being released on the 6th (link).

  • Betty Boo - Wig Wam
  • Black Eyed Peas - Pump It
  • Boogie Pimps - I Got The Music In Me
  • Kanye West - Touch the Sky
  • Pink - Stupid Girls
  • Shapeshifters - Incredible
  • Sugababes - Red Dress

V2, however, still schedule the single for release on the 20th February.

Promos Available - Fake Chemical State Lyrics

The official lyrics are now available on Skin's website.

**********

Promo versions of the album are now available, and luckily I was able to get hold of one. The album is excellent! Skin hasn't failed to impress. She described the album as "dirty indie" and that's a perfect definition. The entire album is a stretch from Fleshwounds, with perhaps only one track resembling anything on it. Fake Chemical State is an up beat, indie-rock album with some scortchers. It's a short album, but it's great nontheless. I won't give too much away; I'll let you judge for yourself. I have, however, transcribed the lyrics to the album. These may not be perfect (or official) as they are simply what I wrote down by listening closely.

To see the lyrics, click
here; they were placed here in order to save the page from being too long. Note: (???) shows that I never understood this part, but I put what I thought it might be. Any corrections, please leave a comment.

Skin on the cover of Diva Magazine - Interview

Skin features on the front cover of February's edition of Lesbian and Bixexual women's magazine 'Diva'.

The article is spread over 3 pages, one page is a large new photo.

In the article, Skin speaks about how she loves to play small gigs: "it reminds me of what I love about music, and why I'm doing it". She tells us how "love, love, love" songs are all boring; she loves music which makes her get up and do something.

Talking about Fake Chemical State, in comparrison to Fleshwounds, Skin says: "Whereas Fleshwounds was a massive internal heamorrhage, this album is more like a naughty disco child!"

"I'm a crazy bitch" - Skin

The magazine is available to buy in the shops now. Issue #117, £2.99

Just Let The Sun - Second Single released February 27th, 2006

The second single to be taken from Fake Chemical State will be the indie-inspired 'Just Let The Sun'. The single will be released with, possibly, two B-Sides. 'Only Vultures', a song heard during the final few gigs of her previous tour, and 'Petrol Station Flowers'. It is not certain whether or not 'Petrol Station Flowers' will be included, though.

The single is already listed on many major online retail sites such as HMV.co.uk and Amazon, but there is no tracklisting as of yet.

The picture below is possibly the single cover to Just Let The Sun, but it has not been confirmed:
